Privacy Policy

The short version

Your photos never leave your browser. Photo Yearbook reads, sorts and lays out your pictures inside the browser tab you are using, and saves your work in that browser's own storage. We do not have an account system, and no server of ours ever receives your photographs.

Your photos

• When you choose photos, your browser opens them on your device. We read the capture date and measure sharpness and exposure to pick and order them. This happens on your device.
• Your project — the photos you chose, their order, captions and the details you type in (such as a baby's name or a letter) — is kept in your browser's local storage. Clearing your browser data removes it. Download a backup or the PDF to keep a copy.
• Exported files (PNG and PDF) are created on your device and saved wherever your browser saves downloads.
• We never see, copy or store your photos, their file names or their metadata.

What we collect about your visit

• Usage counts. We count five events: that an import started, that it finished, that an export started, and whether it succeeded or failed. These events carry no information about your photos. We use Google Analytics 4 to count them and to see general visit information such as pages viewed, approximate country and device type.
• Server logs. Our hosting provider, Vercel, keeps standard request logs (such as IP address, browser type and the time of the request) to run and protect the service.

Third-party services

• Google Fonts delivers some typefaces used in the editor. Your browser requests them from Google.
• esm.sh delivers the open-source 3D and page-turning code used by the photo book view. Your browser requests it when that view is opened.
• Google Analytics 4 as described above.

Each of these services receives your IP address and browser information when your browser contacts it, under its own privacy policy.

Cookies

We set one small cookie of our own, NEXT_LOCALE, which remembers the site's language. It holds no personal information. Google Analytics sets cookies to tell visits apart; you can block them in your browser settings. Your project and your light or dark mode choice are stored with browser storage (IndexedDB and localStorage), not cookies.

Children

Photo Yearbook is made for parents and other adults. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Photos of children stay on the device that holds them.

Changes

If we add features that store anything off your device, such as accounts or cloud saving, we will update this policy before they go live and describe exactly what is stored, where and for how long.
